We did it again - November 2009!
Last
November, the first 200
patients, first come - first served, received Dentistry
From The Heart (free) x-rays, exams, extractions and
cleanings. Must be age 18 and above.
February 23rd, 2009
What a great day today!
We saw 151
patients and did $46,292...and that's without our expansion
finished. (They did primer the walls next door amidst all
the chaos outside).
The patients
started showing up at 11:30 at night. The 150 spots went
only to those there prior to 7AM. The TV news station came
at 4:30AM unbeknownst to me and there was a crowd already.
We did do interviews with two newspapers during the day.
Fortunately
it was a cool but pleasant day for all the folks who showed
up. Lots of donated food and we got a chance to meet some
really promising potential dental assistants...nothing like
working hard together to get a good idea of the "real"
person. Of course, there were lots of good stories and
pleasant surprises throughout the day. The staff was really
pumped all day and left excited about all that we'd gotten
done.

We've had,
according to Audrey up front, well over a thousand incoming
calls about Dentistry From The Heart this year. I've been in
two newspapers, been before the TV cameras twice already and
I have another in-studio interview this morning. We may
have a couple of other dentists coming in to help in the
afternoon tomorrow as we go for our goal of doubling last
year's 65 patients and $17,000+ in dental services. We've
already had people tell us they will be camping out tonight
to be first in line. The whole dental assisting class from
Montgomery Community College will be on-hand to help as well
as the local hospital manager and our Schein supply rep and
two policemen directing traffic. NEWS 2 will be covering the
event and we're scheduling a real, live lunch to make good
use of the mountain of food being donated. Our PAGAS
Pizza-Hut mailer-guy made us up some big posters about the
event.
